Kalsec's composting operation in Michigan

Climate goals validated by SBTi & new corporate social responsibility report published

Kalamazoo, Mich., March 10, 2025 – Kalsec®, Inc., a global natural ingredient solution provider for the food and beverage industry, announces two new developments in its continued commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. A recent validation of the company's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions goals by a global authority coincides with the publication of the company's newest corporate social responsibility report.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) shows companies how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in order to meet their climate change goals. Through this process Kalsec has committed to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 55% in 2033 (based off of a 2022 benchmark) and to reduce absolute scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services, transportation, distribution and waste by 32.5% within that same timeframe. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the company's commitment to sustainability and demonstrates that its emissions reduction plans align with the latest climate science.

The validation of the company's net-zero climate goals by SBTi coincides with the publication of Kalsec's 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility report highlighting both the company's accomplishments as well as its forward-looking goals. The report also references Kalsec's most recent Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) disclosures detailing the company's sustainability practices.

"At Kalsec, we are committed to driving bold sustainability efforts that not only transform our business but inspire our partners to join us in creating a brighter, more sustainable future. Through thoughtful decisions at every level and across all divisions, we’re proving that doing good is good business," said Ian Kennedy, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer.
